Campos Racing have enjoyed a stellar 2024 season as they head into the final part of the campaign with seven wins and 10 podiums – the most of any team on the grid.
Those results alongside their pace means it has been a pleasing year for Team Principal Adrián Campos Jr, as his group have been on the money with the new Formula 2 car since its introduction at the start of the season.
But, despite the impressive results, they are currently second in the Teams’ Standings with 208 points – trailing Invicta Racing by 35.5 points.

They also occupy the same position in the Drivers’ Championship with Isack Hadjar on 165 points just 4.5 points behind Gabriel Bortoleto. But before we finish the campaign in Lusail and Yas Marina, Campos Jr reflected on the year so far.
“Overall, I have to say that the season has been good,” said the Team Principal. “I think that we have had a lot of bad luck compared to others and we lost a lot of points that were out of our control but overall, we have been quick everywhere.
“The performance is there; I think the team did a good job understanding the new car and every time nothing strange happens, we are there fighting for the win. At the end we will see what happens with the Championships, but I think we have been very strong all year.
“We have really focused on not having the same car every race and trying to adapt it, that’s all. Every circuit is different to the other and we work hard to make sure we are prepared for every single race weekend.”
Hadjar had took the lead of the Drivers’ Championship after one of his four Feature Race victories at Silverstone in Round 8. But he lost it after the Feature event in Baku, where he did not score any points and Bortoleto finished fourth.
The Frenchman has impressively won the most races this year and achieved seven podiums. That has obviously impressed Campos Jr, but so has his leadership within the team.

“He is performing very well,” said Campos Jr. “He has made a huge jump from last year to this one. He took control of the situation, and he has been a very good driver in the way he has been guiding the team as well.
“Thanks to that, the team has also managed to do a good job with the new car, so Isack has been key. Also, Pepe, he has had more ups and downs, but I think both drivers have done a good job.”
Talking more about Josep María Martí’s rookie campaign, Campos Jr says the Spaniard has been unfortunate, especially after the starting the year with two podiums in Sakhir.
“It’s been very difficult even more because of how he started in Bahrain,” he continued. “He set the benchmark quite high for the rest of the season and any round where he has not been on the podium like Bahrain was not good.
“At the end, he had a lot of accidents that were out of his control also some that he could have avoided but still it’s part of the learning of a rookie season in Formula 2.

“I am sure that he will learn from all of this and now the last two rounds will be stronger, and we will be fighting for the very high places with both cars.”
With two rounds to go, Campos Jr is confident his team can win both titles come the year’s end, especially if Martí’s luck changes and they get both cars fighting near the front of the field.
Unfortunately for them, since the summer break, Martí’s P4 in the Monza Sprint Race is there only points finish with various issues and incidents leaving both drivers at the back of the field in Italy and Baku.
Campos Jr is calm about the situation though and believes as long as they do their jobs well, they should be back at the front for the final two rounds.
“I don’t think we need to change something crazy,” added Campos Jr. “In Monza we had an issue in the pit lane and Bortoleto was extremely lucky, pitting when the Safety Car came starting last and winning the race.

“So, then later in Baku we had the issue in Qualifying and with the penalty also we had to start from the last few spots with both the cars. But as I say, if nothing strange happens, we will be at the front and we will be fighting at the front in both rounds.
“The Teams’ Championship is something that we need to do our best for, both drivers need to do their best, but we are not only focused on this. We also really want Isack to win the Championship, and we will fight for that.”
